Escape

          Several years ago I discovered through a dear friend that someone was teaching a class at Brookgreen Gardens on sculpting the horse.  I couldn't believe it!  I signed up, determined to get there despite the difficulty of leaving my office for an entire week.  My friend and I took off and spent one glorious week working with instructor Rod Zullo.  At the end of class we all gathered around to talk about each other's work.  A woman in the class piped up and said "Well, that horse is YOU!"  She was right.  This piece was an expression of my desire to escape the stress of work.  I had never considered the possibility that it was anything other than just an image I liked.  Now I know that inevitably, each of my pieces is an expression of my own thoughts and feelings.
